The Bedford Fire Department is an ISO 2 rated department and provides fire protection, emergency services, and other specialized rescue services from three strategically located fire stations, responding to more than 8,000 calls for services annually with an average response time of just over 4 minutes. The Department has a staff of 73 and an annual budget of $7.4 million. The Fire Chief reports directly to the City Manager.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience at or above a Battalion Chief level in a fire department of comparable size or larger. A master’s degree is preferred. Texas Commission on Fire Protection Master Firefighter and Fire Officer III certification and a Paramedic license are required. Completion of the Executive Fire Officer Program is desired. A combination of the above listed education, certifications, and experience may be considered.
